Bird and Holly, 2 ways

If you're like me, I will stamp an image onto a test piece of paper (or several) before creating any project.  And, if you're like me , you have an excess of stamped images in your reserves to use someday .  I found a fun way to use those "extra stamped designs": Create a journal page!  See photo at the bottom of this post. This card is a 5.5" x 5.5" (14 cm x 14 cm) card featuring our Bird and Holly Rubber Stamp . Stamped with Brown StazOn ink onto a patterned paper and layered with burlap and green die cut trim. Fuzzy yarn in cream color surrounds the matte.  Green StazOn ink is daubered along the 2 sides.   So I took those unused, stamped images that I have been working on lately, grouped them by type or style, and placed them onto a journal page.  The well-known brand of artist papers, Strathmore has a wire bound book, "Mixed Media."  The size of each page is a perfect, 5.5" x 8.5".The weight of each page is 90 lb. and is

Village Shoppes Wall Hanging

I created a little wall hanging by recycling a jewelry gift box and adding a black velvet ribbon along with our Village Shoppes Rubber Stamp .  This stamp is so fun to color in. The design was stamped with black StazOn ink and colored in using Copic Markers and Derwent Inktense Colored Pencils.  Iridescent glitter paint covers the entire image.  Black jewelry wire was bent into 2 decorative shapes.  You jewelry designers out there would do a better job than me with your pliers!  I cut chipboard to fit neatly into the box and glued the entire piece onto the chipboard.  Placing the entire piece into the box, you will end up covering the knots in the corners. I bought a multi-colored glitter paint set just to test it out and have ended up using it on almost every holiday project. I highly recommend having a set!

Black and White Poinsettia Ticket Card

An A2 landscape orientation fit the Poinsettia Tickets Rubber Stamps and the Holly Ticket Rubber Stamp (same collection) .  I love stamping white ink onto black paper, so I continued with the black and white theme this season.  The accent color stripe is an olive green velvet 1/4" ribbon on top of textured olive green paper trim.  The holly trim running along the top and bottom of the card front is a special trick. I took our Holly Branch Rubber Stamp , cut it out and added some pink opaque marker on the holly berries. The Holly Branch makes a nice trim piece with its jagged leaf edge. It was easy to tear the black and white striped paper to fit between the holly trim. For the inside of the card, I stamped the same Holly Branch and the "Happy Holidays" stamp from our Holiday Grunge Seal Stamp Collection.

Holly Christmas Card

This card size is a 5.5" x 5.5" (13.97 cm x 13.97 cm) and features rolled corners to reveal our Holly Background stamped in Dark Green StazOn ink onto white card stock.  I tore the black and white striped paper along the top and bottom edges and rolled the edges, adding decoupage to hold the curl.  I actually stamped the Holly Background and cut it in half since I was only revealing a little in the corners on the red matte. The off-center 'centerpiece' is one of our ticket rubber stamps from the Holly and Poinsettia Tickets Stamp Set.   Some green glitter paint is added on the corner curls so to minimize the white.

From Shopping Bag to Gift Bag

This brown paper shopping bag was converted into a fall gift bag with a foliage theme.  I took a 6" x 8" (15 cm x 20 cm) bag and with some stamping made it fun to give again.  How did I take a 3" x 4" background rubber stamp and hide the seams? The secret is tissue paper.  Photo below shows our Fleur De Lis Rubber Stamp stamped 4 times using Ranger's Distress Ink in Walnut Stain.  No alignment tools were used.  BEFORE FOLDING: Tissue paper is so easy to fold that you simply crease along, hiding the white in-between areas.  AFTER FOLDING:   For this sized bag, our Fleur de Lis stamp fits 4 times perfectly.  Photo Below: For the other side, I used our Burlwood Background Rubber Stamp.  That stamp measures 3.75" x 5.75" and only had to be stamped 2 times.  Each side of the bag has a centerpiece of a leaf or leaves stamped on watercolor paper and colored in with Derwent Inktense Colored Pencils.  Photo above features our Elm Leaves Rubb

Orange and Black Journal Cards for Halloween

Oversized Halloween Journal Cards.  Well, one of them is the regular size of 3" x 4".  But the larger size allowed for more stamping so I went with it!  A 12" x 12" scrapbook page yields 6 cards.  I rounded the corners on each and stamped with Staz On Black ink for them all. Here's a detail for each: Halloween Background Card (left) :  On a separate piece of fluorescent orange paper, I stamped Jack O Lantern and xacto knife cutout his eyes, nose and mouth.  I added a piece of fluorescent yellow paper underneath.  I also colored in the center word with a white gel pen.  Raven Card (right):   I stamped Raven Flock Rubber Stamp onto the 4" x 6" card.  I then stamped Quoth the Raven Rubber Stamp on a separate paper, cut it out with patterned scissors and added distress brown ink along the edges (a technique I repeated on many of the cards!).  Velvet leaf stickers are added along the corner. Stone Wall Card (left):   Standard Journal card sized

A Winged Madame and Her Key

A No. 8 Tag featuring "Madame Dragonfly", some butterflies and a Celtic Key.  Every time I stamp Madame Dragonfly, I highlight a different element in her hair.  She fits perfectly in the width of this tag. I colored in the sunflower on the left side with a bright yellow, adding orange in the center with Inktense Colored Pencils. I stamped 2 butterflies with Black StazOn onto the same blue, textured paper as the background and cut them out.  I then coated them with glitter glue, the bottom with a dark blue glitter glue and the top one with a pearl, iridescent glue.  In the center of the butterfly is the Celtic Key Rubber Stamp on white shrink plastic. I designed the Madame Dragonfly rubber stamp myself.  All of the elements in the hair were selected and strategically placed to create a whimsical, half fantasy, half real looking model.  I didn't want her to have too brooding of a look, so I gave her a partial smile, like she knows a secret an

Vintage Art Print Scrapbook Page

I found this vintage art print, "A La Ville De Saint Denis" and printed it with an inkjet onto a 4" x 6" photo paper.  I then stamped along the edges with one of our Vector Flourishes Rubber Stamps in Memento's 'Pear Tart' dye ink.  Also, Sephia ink was daubed along the edges, too.  At the top of the page, I created the cameo with 2 stamps from our Create a Cameo Rubber Stamp set.  Glossy Accents added over the surface gives it a cabochon, domed look.  A moss green 1/8" velvet ribbon is placed above the cameo. Our Ville De Saint Denis Rubber Stamp goes with the theme perfectly, here it is stamped (above photo) in a chalk (Versa Magic) ink onto black paper. Along the side of the 4 1/2" wide, green center piece, I stamped our Anemone Print Background Rubber Stamp onto white tissue paper.  The entire 12 x 12 page is a bone colored textured paper. What I love about this project: A scrapbook page provides a large canv

For the love of Teddy Bears

Who doesn't love a teddy bear? This A2 landscape card was created by stamping the bear with black Staz On ink onto kraft colored paper.  Derwent's Inktense pencils were used to color in this cute guy.  For the background, instead of using a paintbrush or sponge, I sprayed Ranger's Walnut ink onto the white paper.   Teddy Bear Love Rubber Stamp sku 4x505147   The fuchsia silk flowers are held in place by a hexagon shaped fastener with the word, 'Darling.'  Pink and white bakery twine runs along the width of the card and in the flower pin. In additional to the " un bébé nouveau" cards (new baby), this teddy bear stamp can be used for any friend, young or old that needs a hug or smile!  What I love about this project:  Derwent's Inktense pencils are amazing to work with. Once you add a bit of water to the paper, the vibrancy of the ink comes alive.  It's fun to color in stamped images using Copics, but the pencils allow for
One of our Deep Red Stamps 'family' members got married recently.  The theme of the wedding was black and red with a splash of ivory. Damask Background Rubber Stamp is embossed in black for the background.  This stamp measures 4.25" x 5.5" and the card is a 5" x 7" in size.  This sized card is very cool since you get much more room to add embellishments like the flowers, text and the metal cross (Michaels).   The branches are a die cut (Die-Namites, Flowering Branch DN-1044, from Jo-Ann store online) in off-white, metallic dark gray and metallic silver paper. The text is printed on vellum paper for both the front and inside words.     Whoever thought that red would be an appropriate color for a wedding card.  For this occasion, I think even the etiquette gurus would agree that it was perfect for the couple.  Congrats to CeCe and Michael, we wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness!

White Gel Pen for Christmas (in July)

We have a couple different angel stamps in our Christmas collection of stamps.  The above project features Angel with Flute and Angels Sing Rubber Stamp .  The color of the paper is a light purple which allowed for the use of a white gel pen and light blue marker to color in the wings and robes.  More gel markers were used to color in the flowing ribbons.  The contrast color of the background is gold to match the gold flute that the angel is playing.    The card size is an A2, in pearl white.  I added a punched lace design along the bottom and a stamp from the Holiday Grunge Seal Rubber Stamp Set . The Santa Portrait Rubber Stamp was another excuse to use a white gel pen!  He was stamped on a lime green colored paper and vintage sepia ink was daubed around the edges.  Tis the Season Tickets are the 2 tickets along the side stamped on a beige paper and also daubed with vintage sepia ink. Why I love creating these projects? I love how gel pens work so well on dar

Christmas Tag

Our Vintage Santa Rubber Stamp turned sideways on a No. 8 tag is featured on the top portion of this project.  I stamped him twice, once onto white paper and filled in his coat using Mod Podge Dimensional Magic (it has a fine tip).  I then sprinkled red embossing powder and air dryed (no heat was used). The bottom of the tag features one of the Holiday Grunge Seals stamps . The base of the tag is a red/beige paper (Recollections) and our Music Flourish Rubber Stamp is stamped onto red paper with white ink. Creating Christmas projects in July is awesome.  It is 90 degrees here in Florida, so staying indoors in the a/c and dreaming of Christmastime is the perfect thing to do!
