Watercoloring Shades of Purple

To create the background paper for this card, I used Prima's water soluble oil pastels (Colour A La Cremes) onto watercolor paper.  The top and bottom edges are torn to show some white. The French Perfume Label is especially fun to color because of the contrast of the sunflowers.  The flower bunch in the bottom corner is our Dogwood Flowers Stamp.  It is a vintage image that is very versatile. Pearls, jewels or any embellishment looks good in the centers. Rubber Stamps Used in this A2 card: French Parfume Label Dogwood Flowers French Candy Label

Rainy Day in Paris Journal Page

Some watercolor inspiration today.  Rain, umbrellas, and fashion tickets all come together on this 8.5" x 5.5" journal page that celebrates Paris.  I began by using water soluble oil pastels in 3 shades of blue.      The next step in creating our rainy, Paris day, I stamped our Raindrops Background Rubber Stamp nine times on the page in blue ink.    Top left corner of the page features our  Retro Umbrella Girl Rubber Stamp .  She is stamped on white cardstock, cut out in the top portion and placed in the negative of a die cut oval, blue cardstock.  Her blue dress and reversed umbrella are cut to come out of the oval opening.  After stamping her in black ink, I colored her in with a navy blue marker.     Underneath the umbrella girl is a cameo and its frame from our Create A Cameo Rubber Stamp Set .  The oval frame and cameo are stamped separate...

Spring Birdhouse

After coloring in our Rustic Birdhouse Rubber Stamp with several different markers and pencils, I decided on the Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils as the best for this stamp.  They allow the stamped image to show through.    Normally, Distress Ink is used for accent areas or blending on paper, but I used it here for stamping the main image.  Our rubber stamps have natural gum in them which means you can use them with any crafting ink.  Also, the deep etch of our stamps truly allows a crafter to get a fantastic impression every time. Hint: I always place a paper towel underneath whatever paper I'm stamping on.  With this method, the stamp image always, always comes out perfect.    In the photo above, you see the inks I used, and the 4 watercolor pencils used to color in the birdhouse.   And the 2 stamp inks used to accent the edges of the card front. I will often stamp a soft im...
