Fireflies in a Mason Jar

Image
When you paint or color on yellow paper, it is easy to create a night time look.  Our Mason Jar Rubber Cling Stamp is a fun stamp to capture fire flies. Start by stamping or embossing the Mason Jar onto a yellow colored paper.  You can use yellow card stock that even has a little design to it. For those that have never embossed: Embossing is an easy method with rubber stamps that creates a 'wow' factor on paper. Our Mason Jar stamp is an excellent stamp for this. To emboss, you will need an special ink pad (like VersaMark or Ranger) that puts down a sticky surface so that the powder adheres to it. You then sprinkle  embossing powder  onto the design.  Then use a heat gun to 'melt' the powder so it becomes hardened, and thus, permanent. Use oil pastels or water color pencils to color in the jar in blue.  Use both light and dark hues. Use a watercolor pen or paint brush and some water to spread the ink/paint around. For the love of Teddy Bears

Image
Who doesn't love a teddy bear? This A2 landscape card was created by stamping the bear with black Staz On ink onto kraft colored paper.  Derwent's Inktense pencils were used to color in this cute guy.  For the background, instead of using a paintbrush or sponge, I sprayed Ranger's Walnut ink onto the white paper.   Teddy Bear Love Rubber Stamp sku 4x505147   The fuchsia silk flowers are held in place by a hexagon shaped fastener with the word, 'Darling.'  Pink and white bakery twine runs along the width of the card and in the flower pin. In additional to the " un bébé nouveau" cards (new baby), this teddy bear stamp can be used for any friend, young or old that needs a hug or smile!  What I love about this project:  Derwent's Inktense pencils are amazing to work with. Once you add a bit of water to the paper, the vibrancy of the ink comes alive.  It's fun to color in stamped images using Copics, but the pencils all...

One of our Deep Red Stamps 'family' members got married recently.  The theme of the wedding was black and red with a splash of ivory. Damask Background Rubber Stamp is embossed in black for the background.  This stamp measures 4.25" x 5.5" and the card is a 5" x 7" in size.  This sized card is very cool since you get much more room to add embellishments like the flowers, text and the metal cross (Michaels).   The branches are a die cut (Die-Namites, Flowering Branch DN-1044, from Jo-Ann store online) in off-white, metallic dark gray and metallic silver paper. The text is printed on vellum paper for both the front and inside words.     Whoever thought that red would be an appropriate color for a wedding card.  For this occasion, I think even the etiquette gurus would agree that it was perfect for the couple.  Congrats to CeCe and Michael, we wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness!

Butterfly Card, Summer Card Project 4

Image
One of the butterfly stamps from our Butterflies Rubber Stamp Set (SKU 5x702001) makes a perfect centerpiece to this A2 landscape card.   The embossed paper was made using folder by Lifestyle Crafts, 'Whimsy' (from Michaels).  And the paper is also from Michaels' new Recollections Cardstock Spiral pad.  Inside the card, I stamped Japanese Waves Rubber Stamp (SKU 4x600042) onto white paper to create a border for the note writing section.  Because of the embossed design, the waves match the front of the card nicely! The butterfly design, was stamped with Memento Dew Drop London Fog (grey) ink and filled in with a Copic No.2 Neutral Gray marker as the base.  For the wing colors, I used yellow glitter marker Marvy Uchida, R20 Blush Copic marker, and a black watercolor pencil to create the center shadow lines of the wings.  It's hard to narrow down the options for coloring in butterfly wings.  The possibilities are endless!
