Lunar New Year with the Color Red
Celebrations for Lunar New Year are currently underway and traditionally last for two weeks. The Lunar New Year, also referred to as the Spring Festival, includes Chinese New Year, Seollal in Korea and Tet in Vietnam along with others. We can celebrate in our craft rooms using the beautiful color red. In this project, we create with all red papers for the festivities. In the card above, there is a layer of wood veneer to represent this year's animal which happens to be the wood snake. The snake matches up with the years of the people born in 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013 and 2025. The snake, which has a better reputation in eastern cultures is associated with intelligence, resilience and love. In addition, the animal this year is about returning to one's natural state or true nature and letting go for growth.
