The Gift of Time - Altered Gift Box

I love to emboss, and ever since I purchased black embossing powder, there's no stopping me! I embossed our Pocket Watch stamp onto watercolor paper and cut out around the clock part so it would fit into the metal time piece.

The 2" metal pocket watch by Tim Holtz's, Idea-Ology looks grand on an altered gift box.  I trimmed around the clock, placed some foam into the backing to prop up the stamped design (it's a 2 piece embellishment and glues together easily). Deep Red Stamps, Pocket Watch,  (sized at 2" x 2").
Top view is seen below.  Along with the metal watch, I glued on another metal embellishment, a key.  It was black in color, but I added some silver metal leaf to the surface to distress it.  The pen is a paper die cut that was decoupaged.
The corners of the top paper are curled to reveal some more silver metal leaf.  I admit that if I were to purchase metal leaf again, I would buy the gold color.  Unfortunately, silver reminded me of aluminum foil, so I added some brown ink on it.
The script paper was a 12" x 12" scrapbook paper from Michaels.  And the fleur de lis border is a sticker roll also purchased at Michaels.

At first, I didn't know what to do with these metal pieces, but they are so pretty, I had to make it a centerpiece on some project.  I really enjoyed making this gift box and working with metal leaf. Any reason to distress, is a good day :-)
